ABOUT

Garden & Landscape Design

My name is Gareth Edwards and I am a landscape & garden designer, pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers, based near the Old Severn Bridge, overlooking the Severn Estuary in South Gloucestershire. I have been working in designed and natural landscapes for over 30 years.

My design philosophy is inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement, looking to the past for inspiration but very much based in the present, working with skilled craftspeople I collaborate with on many projects. Building architects, landscape architects, stone masons, metalworkers. Bespoke modernism inspired by a sense of place. A design philosophy that is rooted in the ecology of natural landscapes and the history of garden design.

Strong design that is part of a natural history.

ABOUT

Garden & Landscape Maintenance

“…to design the garden is one thing, and to garden it so as to obtain the desired effect is another… long after the designer is gone and forgotten”.

Gareth has built up an outstanding team of skilled maintenance gardeners that work alongside him, or independently, taking forward his long term involvement in garden maintenance and design projects. Garden maintenance services, grounds & estate maintenance, grass cutting & lawn care, weeding & pruning, fruit and veg and herbaceous borders, Gareth & his team are experienced and skilled in year round regular garden maintenance.

ABOUT

Historic Gardens & Natural History

Having gained his first degree in Botany back in the 80’s Gareth worked as a botanical surveyor & field ecologist for over a decade before becoming a professional gardener in the late 90’s. Whilst continuing to work as a freelance gardener, including work as head gardener for a nationally significant historic garden, Gareth studied part time for the highly regarded masters degree in the Conservation of Historic Gardens & Cultural Landscapes from the University of Bath, graduating with merit in 2015. With a background in environmental consultancy, ecological survey and environmental impact assessment, Gareth’s current work as a specialist gardens and landscape consultant is underpinned by his extensive experience as a professional gardener and designer.
