The field at Bettws Newydd has finally dried out enough to get some heavy machinery on. We decided to do a very late cut to knock back the coarse, thick turf, part of the meadow restoration work on this once intensively managed horse grazed field.
Some interesting wax cap fungi, popping up in the autumn, suggests the soil hasnt been too impacted by past intensive management and we’re hoping to improve species diversity with ongoing sensitive management.
